Alongside Academy

The Alongside Academy is a family centered endeavor that grew out of a father’s desire to work alongside his children. Ben Stone is a Civil Engineer by trade and farmer/handiman by passion. His wife, Michaela, is a chemical engineer who left her career to be a full time, homeschooling mother and homemaker. They want to see their own sons fall in love with learning and working with their hands, especially living in the urban environment. What started as a simple family dream has led the Stones to open their home and backyard “classroom” to more students and families.

Our vision at Alongside is that students will fall in love with working with their hands - crafting the beautiful out of the ordinary, repairing what is broken, and stewarding things that grow.

As we connect children to the "business of the home", they begin to take ownership of what happens in the world around them. We encourage parents to join their students; this classroom is for all. Our hope is that this experience will shape the way families walk alongside each other in all facets of life.
